Where We’ve Been
In the fall of 2000, a handful of believers began meeting in the basement of Verlyn & Carol Schaap’s home to pray and study the Bible together with a vision of someday beginning a new church. After hours and hours of prayer, sincere communication, and putting in writing the passion and values God gave us for ministry, Friendship Community Church held its grand opening in October of 2002 at the Bluff’s Area Family Center in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

Where We Are: Physically
Friendship Community Church currently meets each Sunday at 10:25 a.m. in the Bluff’s Area Family Center located on South Lewis Boulevard just south of the Dairy Queen in Sergeant Bluff. Our church office is also located at the Bluff’s Area Family Center. We currently have an average of 90 people each Sunday in worship. Through a generous donor God has provided 5.2 acres of land next to the Sergeant Bluff Medical Clinic in Sergeant Bluff. Our long-range goal is to build a multi-purpose ministry center on that property when our average worship attendance reaches 150 – 200.

Where We Are: Spiritually
We are committed to being a community of believers where any sincere seeker can find a friend in Jesus and a friend in us. We believe the Bible is God’s inspired word revealing the good news of eternal life through Jesus Christ. It shows us how we can live a life of purpose and meaning right now.

We are passionate about:
Prayer:  nothing can or should be done without seeking God’s will
Worship:  whether with other believers on Sunday morning or in your car, worship is our act of love to
     our heavenly Father

     Seeking God’s lost children:
God loves all his children and wants us to love them as well
Belonging to a small group:  life change happens in small groups; individuals are more likely to be open
and honest in a confidential and loving atmosphere
Caring that meets needs:  as God blesses us, we bless others by meeting their spiritual, emotional, and
     physical needs

Serving God and others:  using Jesus as an example, we are to serve God above all and serve our
church community and our local community through our actions

Training for ministry:  in our ever-mobile society, Friendship Church’s goal is to equip and send
families and individuals to serve others in Jesus name wherever God leads them

Where We’re Going
We are focused on carrying out the Great Commission (to make disciples) and the Great Commandment (to love God and our neighbor). We believe God will bless us with growth spiritually and numerically as we trust and obey him. If you are hungry, humble, and teachable we invite you to join us in fulfilling the Great Commission and the Great Commandment that God has given to reach this generation.
